Just between “Terminal Spirit Disease” and “Slaughter of the Soul”, I know that’s a pretty high standard of comparison for such a young band, but I do believe that’s where this local band is, if you were looking for a general perspective that is!

What does it take to write a good black album? To some a lot of references to Satan and a general disgust for Catholics and Jesus off course, to others just a shitty recording and to some few some actual song writing skills and ideas; so what do we have here… the last one.

It is true that Horda strives to play some complex and almost progressive heavy metal, but betting all of their efforts into personal technical abilities is the wrong way to write and album that has a big amount of talent but that makes no sense.
Everything around “Más Allá de la Muerte” is written and distributed so that the very talented Gerson Antezana can deliver a nice guitar clinic, leaving a side any attempt to actually create songs and write lyrics; only 5 tracks on the album have lyrics actually they are 4 since the intro track is just a background grunt. Long name, apparently it has something to do with a skin transmitted disease, so the name is long, very long and thanks to that the band has managed to create quite a fuss around the underground, they pretty much shattered the theory of a band’s name should be short, strong and catchy.
Paracocci… plays gore, but a very peculiar gore; in “Satyriasis and Nymphomania” you can find a black metal atmosphere covering every single track and under this a series of interesting tempo shifts and a weird flow that indulges the tracks into a morbid perspective rather than in brutality or gore...Read all

Dawn of a dream, the album title translated to English is a good description of the sound provided by Injuria; every riff has a reminiscent sentiment of past glories and classic bands, with a solid vocal work and interesting tempos this band sticks to a very hard to follow formula and manages to come out with an impeccable performance.
“Amanecer de Un Sueño” is what we may call “traditional Spanish heavy metal” great guitars solos, mellow rhythms and a powerful vocal work similar to bands such as “Angeles del Infierno” and “Avalanch”, every song is played to perfection, the production is great too, the only problem with this record is that it has no personality...Read all

One of the greatest heroes of the underground movement that helped death metal grow and refine its sound, was this Chilenean band that started their career living through some of the most difficult times their country ever saw, under the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet on the late 80’s.

Brazilian Torture Squad debut with this record, displaying and interesting but at times mediocre blend of thrash/death metal, the band has a good idea in all the tempo changes apply to this production, the problem lies on the mid tempo death segments that become boring after many repetitions.

Some underground acts never have the chance to record their work, to leave a legacy for future generations to study and grow from it, luckily this Peruvian heavy metal act after 15 years of existence got the change to put something on tape, the result is this live album.

When an intro track, that displays noises like those of a zombie eating someone’s brain sound better than any song on the record… we have a problem with production; I don’t know why so many bands do that, place a movie sound or something like that right next to an obvious low budget production, it just makes they sound bad.

What can we say about a tribute album, well for starters Masacre deserves it, after more than 15 years playing a solid death metal that has influenced and reverberate all around Latin America the Colombians are an icon of the underground scene, therefore good for them.
14 different bands, with different backgrounds in metal are included in this “Bajo el Signo de la Violencia” (Under the sing of Violence); so, those that mean that I’m going to review each and every track…no, there are some bands here that instead of paying tribute virtually massacre…Masacre’s work, so let’s just focus on the good tracks.

I was reluctant at first to even listen to this album, the cover pretty much had me going through so many assumptions, and non of them were good, I mean what’s up with a hot girl (that I guess is a porn star) and some burned corpses?, I guess they are burned, I’m no forensic expert…anyway I understand the whole gore and porn focus of many of this bands, and I always though of them as a joke to metal music, a funny joke; but wait there is actually good riffs in here.

There is more than pretty women and oil in Venezuela, (even though for me the pretty ladies are more than enough to get my attention) there is metal, and by the sound of this band from Caracas, very good metal.
Melodic death metal played fast, aggressive and at some points very melancholic, but this last adjective doesn’t really rule the album. Sermon Decay is catchy and brutal; deep impossible to decipher growls like the best underground death acts do it, and with Christian lyrics, fuck yeah!!!
