Here is a fun, fast, raw record; black metal with thrash riffs and the simplicity of punk music.

Ammit is a Chilean band that belongs to the deepest pits of Latin American underground scene since 1991, so they are no strangers to primal brutality. This record is their second full length album and it’s a great example of the kind of talent lurking in the shadows of our continent.

Hammer of Darkness opens with a track that can only be describe as a very long intro, 3:45 minutes of some faded vocals and a obscure drum work, not really worthy of more attention that the prelude of the noise to come. Power means death power, can well become one day an anthem, the chorus is easy to follow and easy to remember, the song is fast as hell! And the vocals are pure mayhem. Acid may not be as memorable as Power means death power but it’s a really good fast song. Ammit plays a cover of Accept ‘Fast as a shark’ and it sounds really great, because they approach the song from a totally different angle while keeping its essence alive. The entire album keeps you going with a frantic tempo and the wildest vocals you have ever heard; yes Czar Yang may not be a great singer, but its approach to the music fits perfectly with the raw sound of the album.

Terrormass is probably the only track with some atmospheric sounds, and that’s because it’s a… atmospheric song, a prelude to Wrath the best song of the album in my opinion due to a slightly more complex guitar work and very catchy lyrics.

This album sounds like one of those gigs in a tiny club with a really crazy band destroying the place with every riff, really a good and fun record, like I keep saying, nothing complicated or over elaborate in Hammer of Darkness, just good old metal to have fun.
