Metalcore is one of the fastest growing metal genres in recent years and a perfect example of that is this Costarrican band. Very catchy riffs and vocals that try to get closer to a death metal sound are among its most remarkable aspects. Días de Agonía has almost 5 years in our metal scene and this latest mini cd is a big step for the band and their genre in Costa Rica.

This album was recorded in “La Alternativa” studio, and it’s really a great work by Marco Monnerat who has always distinguish him self for doing great productions.

The songs speak of the destruction of our planet and our responsibility towards the conservation of our natural resources. Días de Agonía believes in the ideology “Straight Edge”, something they try to print in this album, and the main reason why the lyrics are written the way they are.

A very nice drum work keeps this album fast, brutal and close to metal; the vocal part is definitely hardcore even though from time to time they try to get closer to a shy death metal growl; the guitars are well played and they have a few very interesting and “metallic” riffs that gets them farther away from typical hardcore, a good example of this is the track “Dentro de las Sombras de la Humanidad”.

This is a good album is just that is sort of repetitive, with many songs having the same idea and the same riffs; there is never the less a couple of interesting moments like an intro from Beethoven. The songs are pretty much based in metal melodies and hardcore brutality and speed; a very nice mix and a very important step forward for this genre in Costa Rica. This is an album for Maroon and Caliban fans, not for brutal and extreme metal fans.
