Searching through the bag of now memories I found this San Ramon melodic black band; and I realize why it was in the “for later” list to listen, the record is so full of filler songs that you can easily cut this 10 song production into a 4 track EP and the rating and impact would have better, even memorable and worth mentioning as a good example of melodic black, but they didn’t instead they pushed this 10 track repetitive monster down my throat and hell was it difficult to swallow.

Like I mention in the intro there are some good songs in here, and the style of mixing very raw black vocals with melodic almost rock n’ roll guitars is pretty good I may add, but is the lack of “distinctive” riffs from most of the songs that made this boring, repetitive and a classic underground effort that doesn’t go anywhere, but instead bets all in how “evil” the vocal performance can be.

The production didn’t help at all as well, but this is understandable, in Costa Rica is hard to find a proper studio, and even harder to find a technician that knows how to record metal, so the bad production and recording can’t be blame on them, is obvious that Erebo did the best they could with what they had at the time. Ok lets see that four track Ep could have included the following tracks that manage to stand out and show some sings of authenticity and good structure: Trauma, a good tempo variation and a catchy why not vocal rhythm that follows a decent drum work that sadly because of the recording sounds void and imprecise, still Trauma is a pretty decent song. Open Grave is perhaps the “catchiest” of all the tracks and the melodic influences in the guitars are quite good. The Kings Abode this one pretty much follows the same tempo and has the same riffs as the rest of the “filler” songs, so one of those can actually be considered a real track and so The Kings Abode would have to do. And finally and this song had so much promise after a nice folk start, but for some reason Erebo decided not to include more tunes resembling a nice folk base, that song is Into the Forest.

Overall a bad album with a couple of good songs, worthy of some attention but not much dedication.
