Gothic metal or gothic music in general posses a very characteristic mood, a dark melancholic yet stylish way of consuming its listener into a world of darkness and beauty, it’s never aggressive it’s just passive and panderer.

Scarlet Visions has pretty much all the elements you could expect from a gothic album, keyboard arrangements, slow gloomy guitars, a deep and clean vocal work setting a very distinctive tempo that may from time to time elevate into a death metal growl and a sad chorus line; Adrián Díaz does a clean job performing the vocals with great timing, great timing not just with the music but also for the feelings and atmospheres. Among the most “energetic” songs on the album I can mention “Awake In Black” and “Light In My Eyes” the first one introducing some nice death growls while the second one uses some almost Cradle of Filthish sounding back up vocal lines.

The whole album has a very pondering mood, every song is slow and deep, some may get really bored but if you pay close attention the little details will make this album worth your time, like the simple electronic effects and sounds placed all over the record, and the keyboard lines.

Some other songs that might catch your attention are “The Last Breath Before I Die” with some chorus lines that reminded me of Theatres des Vampires, nice song catchy too. “Santo Grial” creates a sort of horror movie sound track effect by introducing some spoken words in Spanish, really nice and creepy.

To rap it up; there is a good use and balance of the keyboards; they provide a background in which the guitars can fall after creating a sorrow ambient, the vocal work is great, and the songs are interesting, is just that the whole atmosphere of the album is just too much to digest without wanting a fast track that can get you out of the slumber.
