When an intro track, that displays noises like those of a zombie eating someone’s brain sound better than any song on the record… we have a problem with production; I don’t know why so many bands do that, place a movie sound or something like that right next to an obvious low budget production, it just makes they sound bad.
The now banished Salvadorian death band Kabak, provided us back in 2001 with this raw piece of human flesh, grind vocals and death metal riffs transport you into an obscure world of torture and masochism, the songs are quite good, interesting guitar lines and simple yet effective bass chords, a solid drum that unfortunately because of the production sounds quite lame.
“Descomposicion Cerebral” is not just raw death metal, they have a couple of guitar solos placed in different but rare parts of some tracks like in the title song “Descomposicion Cerebral“ a nice change of pace.
The general album has ideas behind all the dirt of the production, is just that some nice riffs get dim by the crappy drum sound and the exaggeration of “stop and go” segments, like in the ridiculously long “Execrable Electrolisis”.
“Macrovomitorium” comes in and saves what’s left of the album, providing some speed and a very good amount of catchy riffs, the song has a nice vocals incursion but is all ruined by the shitty drum sound, if only they could have recorded the drums on a bigger budget the whole album will sound way better, anyway this song has a nice tempo and rhythm change in the middle showing that the band could write intricate pieces if they wanted to.
The album has a dramatic change after “Expectoracion Necrotizada” the Kabak suddenly wakes up and starts adding some speed and “groove” to the songs; “Parasitos Incontrolables De Putrefaccion” has a nice almost thrashy guitar line, given the song a wider array of impact on the listener, the hard hitting drum probably sounds at its best on this track.
Like I said at the beginning the band has some great riffs, is just that the production ruins that, and the start of the album is quite boring and repetitive, the album those pick up at the end, showing some energy and “spark”.
