For some, reason most of the albums I have been reviewing lately have been suffering from the same illness, a total and complete lack of distinctive riffs, from one song to the next, spiraling downwards a wash down, over the top use of a couple of riffs that the band found interesting in the rehearsal room, but that don’t quite cut it for the recording booth, were they end up recycling note by note, segment by segment of repetitive and boring guitar lines that don’t survive even a mediocre test of quality.
Well guess what Legion Sacra falls right in that category, yes there are a couple of decent songs, but they sound so similar if not identical to the rest of the album, that is hard to distinguish one from the next if it weren’t for the intros (apparently the only segments, were they actually use some creativity) and a couple of Spanish based lyrics that stand out “Estrella Del Olvido” and “Cosi e Si Vi Pari”.
Tears In Darkness tries to stay afloat with some great clean, melodic guitar segments that almost, almost save the record, but is the awful vocal work that sinks the entire production by sounding so raw and “blackmetalish” making you focus on the riffs behind this terrible interpretation just so can figure out exactly how recycle their riffs are.
Legion Sacra plays a boring, repetitive melodic death metal, with no interesting guitars lines, no solos and no decent structure, so before I continue saying bad things about this band, I’m going to stop.
