If you like your death metal to have some ideological or spiritual meaning then Melektaus will be a good band for you. This Chilean band bases his music in brutal death metal compositions and lyrics based on magic-spiritual experiences and select occult readings, a very dark and interesting blend, for all of those searching for something deeper in music.
“Trascendence Through Ethereal Scourge” is fast, violent and off course obscure thanks to all the mysticism placed on their lyrics and atmospheres; the guitars have a nice sharp and morbid melancholy spread all over the songs while the drums make a frenetic environment that takes you on a ride through the darkest corners of death metal.
The album could sometimes be a little overwhelming due to the lack of variation on the song structure, but by the time you realize this, you will have already been submerge into Melektaus violence and obscurantism.
Raw death metal with a couple of epic riffs here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary, I guess that’s why you may forget this album after just one listen, it those have some Nile like guitar lines but like I said, “Trascendence Through Ethereal Scourge” doesn’t reach a level of uniqueness or even has some catchy songs that will have you coming back for more.
