If you love old school raw death metal, then this is the album for you; if you hate production and mixing, again this will be the album for you. We have to start by saying that the brutality contained in “Into the flames” is superb, sadly the sound of the album is terrible, but hey aren’t we all use to a bad sound in an underground release? I know I am; so because of this we have to dig deeper into the record.

Mid tempo Death metal with deep growls and unusual rhythm variations; Pseudo (let’s just call it that, since the name is just too long) is brutal, is raw and has a strange force in which they deliver every riff that nails into you like a rusted blade. The drums are nice and the double bass work is not amazing but it delivers when needed, the same with the bass that in a song like The Death of Jesus Christ stands out performing in a decent manner. The growls are perfect for the kind of old school death that Pseudo performs, is just that from time to time they sound too forced into the songs, is like the singer is just reading from a piece of paper and that just takes out some nice rhythm that they could have contribute with.

If you have to compare Pseudostratiffied Epithelium’s kind of death metal you could mention a band like Nile or Immolation, is just that Pseudo digs a little deeper into the whole dark, dirty death metal sound.

The idea is good, the riffs are good, maybe sometimes the tempo changes and speed changes are a bit weird for my taste (too radical and sudden) but the force in which Pseudo delivers death metal is worthy of old school fans.
