Death & Roll, Dirty Rock'n'Roll… how ever you want to call it, is fun, is difficult, tricky and if the songs are not catchy you will end up with some mediocre halfass heavy metal that doesn’t take off in order to be considered Death & Roll, but this Paraguayans do a great job… Chaosbreed is fun, catchy and with huge amounts of dirty rock that can satisfy rock and metal fans a like.
The album is pretty much straight forward, there aren’t many if any surprises after you have listen to the first track, from that point on Chaosbreed delivers song after song of an acid, whisky breath rock that fits perfectly to the almost death vocals, and I said almost because even when they are raw, they don’t get too much into a growl that might get your attention away from the great riffs.
If you have listen and liked bands like Chrome Division and the newest Entombed “style” then you are going to love this record, the only difference is that these guys have a more “small bar” sound to it, it could be the production or the many familiar guitar lines placed all over the record; this is music the drink and toss to. Songs like Death's Squad, with a great harmonica inclusion and introduction provide a sort of “romantic” view of the genre providing the song with a more live feeling and therefore impacting your senses in a higher level; another great instrument included in Chaosbreed, is a very retro “early 50’s” rock piano that welcomes you in Drowning Shit.
The production is clean, it does have a small layer of dirt placed on top of every song but all the instruments sound clear and understandable. As any good rock album that prides in its ability to make you bang your head, Chaosbreed’s guitar lines are impeccable, catchy, flashy and a bit “show off” when they need to.
To conclude, Chaosbreed belongs in the world stage, these guys are good, and they know exactly what they are doing… they are rocking!
