Many can try and tell you that Deathmosphere is a clever mix of death metal, thrash and progressive elements; maybe you can buy this after reading some reviewers that place a lot of emphasis on this matter, but to me, this is a good and simple melodic death metal album.
The album is fast and angry, with a great amount of emphasis on guitar blending and a nice vocal performance; the production may have placed the drums a little too far behind for my taste, but you can still enjoy their attack.
It is kind of customary to “compare” a band with some old school act, but even as I’m about to fall into the cliché of “comparing” this band, I’m not going to do it with an old school act, this band reminds me a lot, and I mean a lot to Detonation, if you are familiar with this Dutch band they you’ll provably say to yourself “fast, aggressive, melodic death metal” and you’ll be right.
Under Threat does have some thrash metal passages here and there, but so do all the great melodic death acts, so the thrash metal speed and constant pounding is sort of a “must” in any mellow death album.
This is a great melodic death metal album, maybe not great, but good enough for all the fans of the genre to be interested, maybe the album gets too fast at some points making the first 4 songs a constant attack of riffs that sound very similar, not saying that they are equal among each another, is just that when you play something really fast it sort of starts sounding repetitive, even with all the great guitar solos place on them; but wait…suddenly track 5 hits you “Black Inertia Disintegration” amazing song with a calm intro and some nice tempo changes that really puts this song on the top of your head, and shows you the real quality of this guys.
If you like fast melodic death metal, then please buy this album.
