I love a good, fast “get down to business” record, and that’s what Amoral delivers from the first track to the last.

Decrowning is death metal with just a sprinkle of progressive metal (ahhh that word “sprinkle” is so gay); the kind of mix that elevates a death metal performance. Amoral from time to time uses a very melodic and yes progressive guitar placed on top of a heavy and brutal drum work that creates and gives them a unique and refreshing sound.

The songs are catchy but perhaps the vocals are too far away from the power delivered by the drums, while the guitars are great and very complex, the riffs are very nice and very interesting because they don’t follow a predetermine path, they have some nice solos placed in the right segments of the songs that keeps them alive and beating hard in your head.

The album begins with Showdown a great track that show us that Juhana Karlsson (Amoral’s drummer) is excellent, his drumming is powerful fast as hell and the beats range from very creative to the average blastbeats that catch your attention immediately; this track also has some progressive influences, mostly at the end of it.

Every time I go back and listen to this album I find more and different elements that maybe with just one listen you don’t catch, but once you have listen to it many, many times like I have, you really start to understand their ideas and you begin to respect this band.

Tiebreaker, Denial 101 and Raptus are among this album’s best tracks, being Raptus the one I enjoyed the most, because of the simple intro of Vince Vaughn in the movie “Old School” saying “We are gonna get so much ass here…its gonna be sick, I’m talking about crazy boy band ass” just great, and the movie was funny as hell.

Get this album is new, refreshing and complex without being long and annoying like many progressive bands or bands that try to place progressive elements in their music.
