Lets first explain this record, no it’s not Avulsed new release, its a sort of demo, covers, tribute, I know it sounds weird so here it is; the first two tracks are new songs by Avulsed, so up to that point it could be consider an EP or a single; track three is a re recording of the demo “Embalmed In Blood”; track 4, 5 and 6 are covers played by Avulsed, and the rest of the songs are Avulsed songs played by different bands, this will be the tribute part; so you see this is not a very conventional release, and it’s quite interesting really.

So other than a very interesting “structure” what can we really say about the album, well the first two songs are from Avulsed, performed by Avulsed so I would say they are the ones most fans will be interested in hearing; both tracks are quite fun, that very distinguishing deep growl that sounds like a constant burp is in them, nothing has change there, perhaps the melodies are more melodic than what Avulsed has you used to, catchy almost to the Six Feet Under standard of catchiness (and for some reason, I’m the only one in the planet that likes SFU); nice drums, pounded but with a touch of finesse thanks to the use of something close to a groovy blast beat, the chorus is good too very easy to remember and sing along.

“Foetal Consolation” this is a faster track, less “groove” and more brutality, now this is the Avulsed we are use to, the song dose have some mid tempo segments that display those singular riffs that makes every Avulsed song more enjoyable by adding some extra rhythms that are easy to catch.

The re-issue song sounds good; I have never heard the original recording so I can’t really compare it, fast and brutal track, a good overall guitar display, but not a very remarkable song.

The three covers played by Avulsed; Piranha by Exodus, I Wanna Be Somebody by WASP and Mental Misery by Gorefest, overall they are just fun covers, nothing to dig in really, perhaps many fans will hear the interpretation of the WASP track as a mockery rather than a tribute, its quite bad really, I guess the Gorefest track is the best one.

The rest of the tracks are played by different bands, never heard them before, so it’s kind of cool to give them a chance to show what they got; a couple of tracks are interesting, why play an Avulsed cover without applying to it some of your own “magic”? I mean some bands play Avulsed songs their own way, and I really like that, even if I don’t like their way, it still shows character; some bands are just brutal are try to play the song just as Avulsed meant the song to sound and that’s really boring.

The three bands that really stood out for me where: Terroristars playing Powdered Flesh in a more melodic death/metalcore kind of way, In Element playing a very industrial Devourer Of The Dead and Kaothic with a sort of doom version of Sweet Lobotomy.

This album is just for die hard fans, if you don’t like Avulsed then just walk away. Ohhh yeah there is a video too, well done, a little dark but well done for a live performance video.
