The first track seems to get that old feeling that “Goatreich – Fleshcult” had, fast blend of death and black metal, even some almost grindcore vocals in a section or two, still you can notice a change in direction, death metal is no longer the “leading” genre here, as a matter of fact after the first track the album gets deeper and deeper into their black metal roots, and for some that will be great, is just that every song turns out to be boring even after all the great guitar lines and the raw effect placed on everything, it sounds void and perhaps like they are trying to hard to play black metal, please don’t get me wrong this guys are pretty good musicians and they can play black metal if they wanted to, is just that I was sort of use to their great and brutal blend from the past, and perhaps that’s the factor that bothers me the most.

For example “Angel Of Retribution” is a mid tempo track with nothing to offer, maybe just a few nice guitar solos, but this is one of the most boring tracks on the album, it never really takes off or consumes itself in a depressive atmosphere that sort of gets insinuated by the tempos, instead it just hangs around forever. The album has some few very melancholic passages like in “Chants For The Devil” again not a bad composition, it’s just that I would have never believed that this band could do a boring album, well they have achieve that (or maybe they have outgrown me).

“Pest Teufel Apokalypse” gets into a sort of fast black metal attach thanks to the drums, while the guitars are again melancholic and paced, speeding up in just a few segments, mainly in the solos, still the whole structure of the song even with high speed drum work is very “slumberish” (don’t know if that is really a word, but that’s the kind of feeling the entire album gave me, the songs are just boring).

The best things about the album, the cover, the solos and the drums, yes this will be an album just for the die hard fans of the band, nothing more.
