For those of us that aren’t tired of “retro” thrash metal, here is the new opus from Polish metallers Bloodthirst, a real trip to what thrash metal was when it represented the most brutal genre in metal.
Let Him Die has all of those familiar riffs you loved from bands like, Metallica, Exodus and why not Dark Angel, they are just… a bit faster this time around, a bit more aggressive and with just a “tea spoon” of black metal, can’t really put my finger in what elements are exactly the ones providing this essence, but the album does have a dark and evil atmosphere; and yes it can be the fact that they use satanic lyrics, but there is something about the dirty sound in this production that brings to memory the most blasphemous of all metal genres.
Like I mention earlier the album has many nostalgic riffs, but for some reason they promise more than what they deliver; recycling tunes and forgetting about some chorus that could be used as “chants” by any live audience. Maybe the only track with this characteristic is “Crush The Bastard Nazarene” with the only memorable chorus line on the entire production “There is no salvation, in the Christian nation” a well tuned, solo face melting song that actually comes to show, just how good this polish band can be if they take the time to write more complex tracks and remember to put some lines that will make the listener remember what he just heard.
Been Let Him Die their first full length you can expect more, much more from this guys, but sadly this debut only made promises and did not delivered a memorable album that only lasts 35 minutes.
