Corpse Carving - Grotesque Goratorium: Disemboweled Gorific Feast
The album has the usual brutal underground standards, fast synthetic programmed drums to create a sick environment, short monotonous and brutal riffs, and a deep growl that is impossible to decipher, I even read somewhere that the band doesn’t even have lyrics, well why write them if nobody is going to understand them right? Wrong, to me lyrics go beyond what you may or may not understand they are the background that determines if a band is working on what they want to transmit, a “manifesto” of what they stand for; anyway if there are lyrics please send them to me, because I was looking for them everywhere but couldn’t find any.
As repetitive as the genre can get these Tasmanian devils (They are from Tasmania, I’m not kidding) can fluctuate the tone in just one second, from brutal and fast to a slower more obscure rhythm providing some fresh riffs that keep you hoping through out the 24 songs for something out of the ordinary, but they fail to deliver, the whole album is brutal and gory, but the promise made by songs like “Grotesque Goratorium: Disemboweled Gorific Feast” and “Necrotic Vivisection (Dripping From the Entrails)” never materializes leaving you with an empty feeling.
For lovers of this style of metal, the album is going to be a headbanger festival, for all the rest is just another gore album that has strength but not a goal.
Lately I have been finding the “beauty” or perhaps to be more symbolic, the perverse pleasure in goregrind/death metal. Short and extremely violent can be a good way of creating a 24 track album that only lasts a little over 27 minutes, still “Grotesque Goratorium: Disemboweled Gorific Feast” has some riffs that get outside the box of gore metal.
