Press play, stand a little far from your stereo and let’s ride. A mix of death/thrash and I don’t really know why but some hardcore in the vocals (just at some points, mainly when everything gets too damn fast); great guitar work, the solos are well placed and they never get over played, basic drumming here, fast, hard and with no complications, they are just there to blast as hard as they can. Nate Olp (Demiricous singer) sounds from time to time to that guy from The Haunted…Marco Aro, well ex The Haunted guy; some riffs reminded me to some old Sepultura songs, mixed with Pantera, I guess they do achieve what the press sheet says about them “pure American metal and Thrash”.

This album is fast… is very fast, but is done in a very good way; it’s fast and it has some melodies attached to it, off course there are some songs that slow the tempo a little bit, but not too much, just enough to take a break and start the race one more time.

40 minutes of metal played without any artsy presumptions, just fucking metal! It’s true that the first track may remind many of Slayer, can’t blame them, those few early riffs do sound like Slayer, hell pretty much every intro in the first three songs sound like Slayer!, but that’s not bad at all, because once you get to the core of every song you can hear the different blends of inspiration this guys have.

The not so good side of this record (can’t really call it a BAD side, because is not) is the similarity between many songs, is like they sacrifice some groove or melodies for speed and heaviness (still not sure if heaviness is a real word… no dictionary around!), also there isn’t a song strong enough to stay in your head, maybe “Beyond Obscene” or “Matador” could do that for some people; this is one of those albums that can only be review as a whole, why? Because when you listen to the entire album, you want to hear it again, not because of any particular song, but because it leaves the feeling that maybe you need to pay more attention next time.

One is Demiricous debut, a very good debut I may add; it shows that the band has an idea but need some time to develop it.
