Well, can’t really review this album since they just send me a 4 song sample of it, so I’ll just talk about those songs.

Blasphemous black metal, with a nice drum pattern and some dark metal structures, some tracks bring to mind Ajattara others sound like the new Aeternus album, death metal with black vocals; there are some progressive elements on this sample mainly in “The Rapping of the Divine”.

Let’s go song by song shall we: Invocation of the dreaming dead; the vocals are placed underneath every other instrument on this song, while the drums go as fast as they can; the riffs are chunky and catchy, extremely monotonous yet engaging.

Bloody Tears of the Virgin; love the lyrics on this one “I crown you the greatest whore the whore you were always destined to be”, coincidence or not the two following songs also use the word “whore” and yes they do say “Faggot Nazarene” maybe now you understand how blasphemous this guys can be, well they are black metal after all so I guess those words are a must for any black metal band (nothing against the use of those words, I actually like the simplicity and the effect they produce on faithful Christians). The song is pretty similar to previous one, maybe a little faster the drums still rule on this one.

The Rapping of the Divine; very interesting track, a sort of black progressive, dark n’ roll kind of tunes (yes I’m trying to make up some genre that will explain the great combination on this piece). The tempo changes are very nice, and you can finally hear the guitar provide some solos right at your face, just to come back to the heavy and short riffs that by now have definitely established Ereshkigal as an interesting band.

Blasphemated; think about the first two track on this sample and then just slow them down; a couple of background vocals are added creating a mysterious mood.

Three very similar tracks, one outstanding; so I don’t really know what to expect from this album since I didn’t really listen to it all; It did caught my attention so that has to be a good reaction…right?
