Line up
Frediablo - Drums, guitars, bass & vocals
Heksblod - Synth
This could be called a “One man show”; Hemnur is a band created by Frediablo (Grimfist, Gorelord, Wurdulak, and many other bands), and Satanic Hellride is an album produced, mixed, engineered, and master by Frediablo and co-produced by Heksblod, well so I guess is not completely a One man show.

Raw black metal, with a very clear sound, and some catchy riffs; I think that description may fit this album nicely (even when some may say “raw black can’t have a clear sound”). The lyrics are…yes satanic like the title implies, and some seem to have been written without a lot of though put into them, but hey! Evil is not always intellectual or grammatically correct; I just wished some of the songs had longer lyrics.

The album is catchy, strong and yes SATANIC; the guitar is simple but gets the job done creating some nice tempos, while the synth gives the whole record a horror movie atmosphere worthy of attention; a little dirt was thrown into the mix to make everything sound as raw as possible, and it actually worked to their advantage making Satanic Hellride sound very underground and dirty as well as heavy.

It does seem from time to time that many riffs were placed in some songs just to make them longer, with out really having a big impact on the song it self; like for example the first song that has 1:30 minutes of atmospheric sounds before the song actually begins, too bad because the song is very good actually.

Fucked By Your Christ is a song that proves that a song can actually have an atmospheric sound in the intro an actually affect the environment in which the song will be assimilated by the listener; the lyrics are long, the riffs are sharp and like I said before the environment is very scary.

Skullfucking Jesus is the most complex song in Satanic Hellride, the drums finally play a big role and the riffs dare to speed things up while preparing you for a couple of tempo changes, this is my favorite song from the album.

In general there is nothing new in Satanic Hellride, but the album does achieve what Frediablo wanted to write from the beginning, a satanic, raw and heavy, black metal record.
