One of the most respected bands of the Swedish metal scene is back; Hypocrisy delivers in this new cd and impeccable sound not only in their performance but in the production, something that gives the band leader Peter Tägtgren a reason to show that music is becoming extremely simple for him to compose, direct and produce.

Virus is death metal being played and compose by real professionals, its true that for a moment the aggressiveness of the record is jeopardized by the amount of talent being put into this production (maybe death metal shouldn’t be so refined), but this guys make it out alive. Some said that Hypocrisy is melodic death metal, but I can definitely after this album confirm that is just death metal being perform at its best, there is a couple of moments in which they flirt with melo death, but only that flirt. The drums rumble every time the songs needs it to, and the guitars are always adding new and exiting riffs that keep this album interesting because of all the little things put into it, every time you listen to this album you are going to notice something new, and that is just good production and composition.

Peter’s voice is the same, impossible to miss, strong and kind of mysterious when he decides to add clear vocals to a song, but he’s voice is not the dominant factor or the record ‘s best attribute, the drums are.

This record is death metal at its best, were the growls fit perfectly with the entire instruments and were the drums take the center stage bringing a fierce attitude to it, do your self a favor, buy it!
