Dan Swanö’s (Bloodbath, Nightingale, Edge of Sanity another 10 bands more and ex Katatonia) and Andreas Axelsson (Edge of Sanity, Incapacity, ex-Marduk) project InfestDead didn’t lasted too long alive, but this record is a gem of death metal that deserves to be analyzed.

It’s true that many of the members or former members of Katatonia have at least five more projects in the works, well InfestDead is just one of them but one amazing one of them.

“JesuSatan” is a heavy, dark and completely anti religion, the perfect mix of great death and black metal elements (black because of the lyrics mainly), but we cannot deny that this work is basic death metal, the album has from time to time a guitar tearing through the composition giving it a special component but manages to stay brutal and simple at the same time, Axelsson’s voice play a big roll in creating a dark atmosphere that is complete thanks to the drumming work.

This record sounds extremely similar to another Dan Swanö project, Bloodbath specifically that bands first work “Resurrection Through Carnage”, its safe to say that Bloodbath was just created over the foundations of this album.

Consisting in ten well played songs, and 35 minutes of extreme metal “JesuSatan” reminds me of early works done by Hypocrisy, this record brings basic, brutal, fast death metal ala Dan Swanö and has a couple of dark flashes thanks to the vocals. Is worthy of your time and money.
