First impressions are an important part in every relationship. The first thing to notice on this album is the twisted cover: Jesus Christ being ripped apart by hideous demons. I spend several minutes finding out little details before actually listening to the record. The cover is brutal and blasphemous, It's so natural that makes one wonder about the music, and guess what… the record is brutal and blasphemous, pure death metal.
This album is a good mix of old school death metal and production engineering; the songs are clearly brutal and heavy, still you can hear every instrument and the tempo changes are very well accomplished.
The guitars may be the one thing in this production that stand out, cutting through you in every riff and giving the album more “personality” with some interesting solos. There are times though when the guitars are playing one tempo and the vocals a totally different one, something interesting for some, but just confusing to me.
The drum work is remarkable, it accomplishes that…organic sound death metal should have and brings some nice groove to a couple of tracks; the vocals are performed by Rachel Kloosterwaard (she recently left the band) and Aad Kloosterwaard, they are not bad, but I definitely don’t see the need for two singers that sound exactly the same, I mean if you don’t read the line up information, you will never find out that there were two different people singing in here.
This album grows with every track, by the seventh one you should have found the “essence” of Heaven Termination and by the eight a good reason to listen to it again.
The problem with the record is that it doesn’t posses that special track or melodies to last very long in your record player; this is definitely an album for old school death metal fans, people that enjoy the erratic riffs of bands such as Immolation or Suffocation.
