Now days is getting harder and harder to box bands inside genres, but what the hell I’m still gonna give it a shoot; Pathological Brutalistic Fermentation is brutal death metal with some gore added to the mix and a couple of progressive attempts that could have been better exploited if Intestinal Strangulation had have a little more experience and time in their hands to add those Suffocation inspired sounds to the album.

I got in touch with these guys thanks to myspace, a place in the web that is really helping underground bands expose themselves to a broader audience.

Ok after some free advertising lets talk about this record.

High speed drums, deep growls that at times become more a huge deep burp than actual human voices, a good bass taking charge with a couple of solos that give that progressive sound, and a fierce complicated but very adequate guitar that is left a little too far behind from the general sound; if the guitar was placed maybe a little more… to the front this album would have sound way better.

Intestinal Strangulation, has some great moments that sets them apart from all the other billion brutal death/gore acts in the world, and that could be thanks to the nice tempo changes, or the guitars attempts for creating a “groovier” sound, or maybe is that nice bass, well I think is all of those things blend inside some songs; but for most part they sound like every other band that plays that brutal metal genre, that doesn’t mean they are not good at what they do, is just that is so hard to tell them apart, perhaps they just need some time to find their own sound, and if they do so, the progressive influences in this record could really take them far.

If you listen to this record, you should pay a lot of attention to the bass, and the guitars, and not just the riffs they display but the way they blend to create a nice fast brutal but very intricate rhythm, something you can listen as early as track one “Grotesque Epidemic Induced by the Catastrophic Cerebral Separation Resulting in the Manipulation of a Cadaveric Masterpiece” that’s one huge ass name!
