Industrial music is all the rage! Just kidding, but it’s always good to hear new artists in the genre. This certainly isn’t anything like Ministry, and it hasn’t got a great deal in common with Nine Inch Nails either. There are no political outcries or drug fueled aggression, due to their being no vocals (for now…), but never the less this little demo has a lot of emotion in it.
The System, starts of quiet, but then unfolds into a grandeur and dare I say it, rather epic piece of percussion work. The Traffic on the other hand is slightly more straight forward, it’s not as aggressive as the previous track, as it indulges in techno more than metal, but you can quite easily get lost in it. The Gutter delivers the atmosphere that the title promises. It’s pretty damn seedy, and it could well be used in an avant-garde porno flick.
Meshuggah are a highly noticeable influence within this track, it’s as if someone slowed down a track from Chaosphere and added some hypnotic sounds to it. The Sleaze in Your Grasp is a delightfully sinister way to end the demo, a lot of film nerds (myself included) will think of Blade Runner when listening to it, due to the sensation and mental imagery it creates. The Meshuggah influence can be heard again towards the end.
I really do urge any fans of atmospheric or industrial music to listen to this demo, any support that it gets can only be good. After listening to it you will also want to hear more, and if this is only a demo, imagine what the complete creation will sound like!
