Old school death metal, played at warp speed with anti-Christian God hating messages never sounded so incredibly exhilarating. Sweden’s My Own Grave play death metal fused with modern complexity and finesse becoming one of the bands to watch in the extreme metal world.
Proof of my statements above is their new EP entitled “Unholy” (a very appropriate title). Although short, clocking a little over 16 minutes, this EP is a blazing and pulverizing journey through a near perfect production, some of the best riffs you’ll ever hear in death metal, a lead singer that will make the most avid growlers retire in shame and songs that are catchy, heavy, fast and all around excellent. If by the end of the first song “Buried” you are not spinning your head and thrashing all over your bedroom then death metal is really not your thing, as it just doesn’t get any better than this. This band complement their playing by switching back and fort to melodies, blasting and breakdowns that give you a few seconds to catch your breath. The only problem with this EP is that it tortures its listeners because believe me when I say you will be begin for more when it ends.
There’s not much more I can say from this band, except that I’m really looking forward to more releases from this band in the future (you should too) and on a bit of a mandatory statement on my behalf…GO BUY THIS!!!
