If Max Cavalera have only focused more on this band than Soulfly, we will be hearing their fifth or six album but sadly the project didn’t lived that long, and it only managed to record one album, a live album and a
DVD (you have to try to make the most money out of it) they all have the same songs.
Thrash / industrial metal a very simple but productive mix if you do it right, and the Alex Newport - Max Cavalera formula was a good one. This project was born right after Sepultura released its Chaos A.D album and with a Max that wanted to experiment a little more inside the industrial sound of things inspired by Ministry, always putting into it his now familiar political ideals.
The guitar riffing is very Cavalera, simple yet extremely catchy and heavy, those riffs that have always been Max’s trade mark (some may hardly criticize Soulfly but the truth is that the Brazilian still knows what he’s doing).
This is a very singular and well done production based on simplicity and the inspiration of its two members, its shows that to create a great album you don’t need eternal guitar solos, or musicians who play to show how good they are instead of writing good songs, the record has a very underground sound and that along encourages listeners to pay some attention.
To say something bad about this album (it’s not that simple) the speed which it carries the entire production may affect in some instances where is just fast because they didn’t know what else to do.
