If you have never considered Pantera to be one of the most influential and legendary bands in the USA metal scene, then you are going to hate this group of copycats from El Paso Texas.

Yes Pissing Razors sounds just like Pantera, even the vocals are very Anselmo alike, the guitar doesn’t quiet get to the level of the late Dimebag Darrell but it does the job quiet nicely, the drums and the entire production are well done but not surprising only the fact that Joe Rodríguez does sound a lot like Phil Anselmo is kind of disturbing from time to time.

Pissing Razors has that groove that Pantera was exploring in their early works, but it fails to get the aggressive nature of the band that obviously inspired them out. Rodríguez gets kind of confused and looses power by the middle of the record, transforming his performance in something like a cry for help of a teenager instead of the screams of a mad man.

When I said copycat, I was mainly referring to the attempt of this band for transforming the sound of a band like Pantera into a genre by it self. It wouldn’t be difficult to confuse a Pantera fan (at least for a couple of minutes) that this cd is nothing but a B Sides of the legendary Dallas band. Enough comparisons, this is a fun record, fun enough to listen to it a couple of times hitting the floor with your foot, but not fun enough to remember it after a couple of weeks.
