Austrian death metal, morbid lyrics and razorblade riffs, a production charged with brains, gastric juices, human feces and infected wounds that will definitely make you head bang.
This album is an introduction for the trio “Mr. Stench” drums, “Pitbull Jack” bass and “El Cochino” in guitars and vocals; “For God your soul…for me your flesh” is the first production of this band that first saw the light back in 1990.
The album has 10 songs full of aggressiveness; a kind of hollow drum work gives it a unique underground sound, the work done by “Mr. Stench” lacks of quality at some parts but manages to keep a well done “beat” and brutality; the guitar work is not an outstanding one, but the simple riffs go right through you like hot knifes on butter, the drums and guitars make a perfect mosh-pit atmosphere. There is an attempted of a guitar solo, it doesn’t come out bad at all, but you can tell they still had lots of work to do.
When this record hit the street, the cover and lyrics called the attention of many sensor authorities, lyrics that nowadays don’t amaze anybody and every single death metal band uses without problems, but back then Pungent Stench was brave enough to follow their artistic view without many examples to follow. The album reaches its climax with the song “Blood, Pus and Gastric Juice” the lyrics describe a man that consumes blood, gastric juices and many other human secretions, but that’s not the disturbing part, the disturbing part are the sounds made in the background of a man vomiting, burping and defecating.
“For God your soul…for me your flesh” has nothing cute about it, is straight forward and vulgar (in a good way) it takes everything to the extreme and transforming it into a parody; the album is brutal, creative and has amazing riffs, you will end up listening to this one over and over.
