Satanic Tyrant Werwolf aka Nazgul - Everything (in studio), vocals and bass (live)

To those truly involved or conscious about the existence of Finnish ST, this MCD comes as no surprise; no new elements, no experiments here, just plain and simple Darkthrone, Mayhem inspired black metal.

Clichés are created and reproduced for a reason… because it works, so others try and amplified those tactics and procedures in order to achieve the same results other had, the only problem with a world full of bands and musicians that don’t want to create but replicate, is the lack of growth and understanding from other artists and other disciplines. I mention this because despite the fact that ST creates a memorable replica of what was done back in the 90’s, there is absolutely nothing more than clichés and a huge amount of self importance…maybe I’m taking it out on Tyrant here, and that shouldn’t happen, but the truth of the matter is, that most, if not all of the black metal bands that consider themselves “true” are nothing more than individuals taking themselves way too serious, and replicating great projects and bands that develop a genre. So my biggest problem with ST is the fact that it only continues to expand the idea that black metal cannot evolved away from the creations of Darkthrone, Mayhem, Burzum and Immortal (even thou Immortal along side Emperor were BM bands that really pushed the envelop in terms of expanding the possibilities of the genre) to name a few.

So after my “not so short” rant about development and all that crap, let me just say that “Revelation” those sound good, yes I stand by my previous words, there is nothing really remarkable and ingenious here, but the last song “The Sign Of The Master” saves this MCD from been total shit by inserting catchy memorable thrash riffs, that refreshes the whole production; after listening to an unnecessary intro and two completely generic BM songs the closing track forces you to reconsider every word you have been saying about ST and pushes you to listen to it one more time, just to see if you or me are the idiots that simply just don’t get it!... and after listening to it, you’ll probably copy The Sign Of The Master on to your favorite mp3 player and forget about the rest of the tracks, I know I will!
