This album caught me by surprise; I didn’t expect such amazing song writing from a melodic black metal band, mainly because the word black was involved in the description given by their record label.

You know how many claim that simple is better, or that less is more; well Gospel Songs In E Minor is just the opposite of that, is complex and its more, is a great blend of sounds, atmospheres, feelings and rhythms that will intrigue and surprise you during its 44 minutes of existence.

These guys are very technical and the imagination placed on every single guitar riff is jaw dropping; maybe the second thing you will notice after those incredible guitars is the keyboard and the electro-industrial samples placed in the mix, all contributing to make every song remarkable and different. The only element that reminds you that you are listening to a black metal band is the vocals; they are not bad at all, but they just seem to be complementing the intricate riffs and the great keyboards.

The constant change of speed and melodies keeps you listening to every single tune, just to see with what weird and heavy riff they are going to explode in your head next.

I think we can call this album a progressive melodic black metal record with a couple of symphonic and industrial sounds apply to the mix; I know it sounds complicated…well it is complicated, but is a good complicated album.

First of all you should listen to every single track of this album, at least twice before making your mind about it; personally I found the tracks “Did I Say Why I Hate You” and “Monster” playing in my head for days after I listen to them for the second time, and maybe that could be the only bad thing about this album, that it needs time to grown on you, but once it does, your are gone!
