It’s impressive how a black metal band can adapt to the present time; Travesty of Heavenly Essence is pretty much an album that may not be totally appreciated during the period of time that we are living in.

Yes what they do in this album is not new, but is certainly fresh; a mix of industrial, electronic sounds and black metal. To some it may resemble a more industrial Dimmu Borgir, because of some “epic” mellow sounds placed in the mix and some synthesizer atmospheres. Thyrane manages to focus its aggressive nature exactly were they should, in their riffs.

On of the most impressive aspects of Travesty of Heavenly Essence is the song writing; sharp, smart and both aggressive and melodic, the guitars and the synth blend to create great songs and atmospheres that transport you to this neo dark world, where evil is no longer old but a new and revitalized beast.

The production is excellent, crystal clear and that helps because it lets you listen to the tiny things that make the songs so catchy, never too catchy, but yes you get them after just one listen. The drum work doesn’t allow you one moment of peace and the bass has some razors attached to its chords, the vocals are black metal al right, but not the usual howl, these screams are deeper and stronger, something that creates a great mood and intensity.

Some songs that deserve a closer look are: Nox Diaboli, with a fast drum work some tempo changes and remarkable riffs, the song incorporates melodies, rage and darkness all coated with a beautiful and catchy synth (great work by Hannamari…she’s pretty cute too!!!!).

Deteriorated, ok this is the best song of the album, no doubt about that, the vocals are powerful, the riff…the riffs kill! And one more time the synth is incorporated with precision and finesse (God is Hannamari cute! She’s also very talented don’t get me wrong).

Truth Revealed shows us what this band tried to accomplish on this record, a great black/death/industrial sound wrapped around some great riffs and outstanding melodies that rumble in your head way after you listen to it.

You should definitely buy this album, not just because Hannamari is cute, but because the music is really amazing!
