Tool is a band I got to know some years ago, and I always thought they were pretty good (the music and the videos as well), but never one of my favorites. One day a friend of mine lend me the 10,000 days album so for curiosity I listen to it a couple of times and I’d have never figure out how much I was going to like it…..

Vicarious is the most commercial song, It has a really catchy rhythm and the lyrics are just amazing “I need to watch thing die” such an incredible chorus….the song is about how today’s society depends on TV, feeds on tragedy and believes everything they say on the news, this lyric format is like the one from the undertow age, is more direct and straight to the point, no riddles, no secret messages. Jambi is another good song; it has a lot of potential for commercial success as well.

This leads us to Wings pt 1 (Wings for Marie) and pt 2 (10,000 Days), Marie is the middle name of Maynard’s mother; she was partially paralyzed and died after 10,000 days in this condition. The two songs are masterpieces of modern music; by far the greatest song in the album is Wings Pt2……its just impossible to top those lyrics, they are just so sincere and beautifully composed, there’s a rumor that you can combine both of them with “Virgini Tres” and make a whole perfect synchronized song (I know its true because I already did it).

The Pot starts with a nice and unusual bass riff, and Maynard’s voice sounding cleaner the ever, along with Vicarious and Jambi is one of the most catchy songs.

Lipan Conjuring is an interlude, its an Apache tribe ritual or something, Lost Keys is a dialogue between a doctor and a nurse. Rosseta Stoned is another bloody good song it has an Egyptian meaning, Intension is more like an ambient song, it has some cool sounds, a very quite one. Right in two is like a clue I think….. to decipher the mysteries hidden in this album ( =) hahaha)….just look at the title, it says it all, and put it together with lost keys….(lost keys right in two= Wings pt 1 and pt2) but of course they are all speculations….the song is really good, with some heavy riff at the end, by now I will like to take some time to praise the most outstanding musician of this whole deal, Danny Carey is an AMAZING drummer, his work in this album is way better than ever before, his technique has evolve into this unique and really original style, cheers to him!!.

If you like well produced music, good metal albums, progressive blood running wild, amazing lyric content, secrets messages and riddles….well this is the album to get, no doubt It will be one of top 2006. Perfect score!!!
