Technical, precise and aggressive death metal, maybe too technical leaving little room for a natural and violent reaction from the listener.
Zyklon can create a nice blend of black metal atmospheres and death riffs, and manage them with precision, making every album a perfect harmonization of styles and influences, the problem is that even with amazingly talented musicians on this band, the record tends to sound too planned out, too controlled, too precise and that’s when you may start to feel a little distant from all the aggression that you know is there.
Disintegrate is a well written album, with raging guitars and fast drums, that will keep you interested during it’s 45 minutes of playing time. The vocal work of Secthdaemon is fitting and may be one of the main factors why Zyklon still have some black metal in every track. Samoth does his share by adding some unconventional guitar lines that could even sound a bit progressive at times, some of the melodies made me remember a progressive band that maybe is not often compare to Zyklon, and that band is Mastodon, not that they sound similar, no is just that just like Mastodon, Samoth manages to write and play bizarre guitar lines adding a nice sometimes incomprehensible rhythm to the tunes.
