While some Metallica fans are still expecting their aging and legendary band to wake up from a slumber that have taken them more than 16 years and a couple of disappointments on the way (and that’s an overstatement!!!); others are grabbing guitars and laying down to rest the dream that Metallica could ever be what they were before fame, money and Lars Ulrich’s infinite childish attitudes.

Enter the Grave has that old school aroma, not just because of the very familiar riffs on every song, but because is thrash, real thrash from the Bay area… but wait this guys are Brits? Yes, but for the production of this great debut they got some piece of history (with no disrespect!) Mr. Flemming Rasmussen was back in 1986 the man behind the production of a little album called “Master of Puppets” and now he returns to produce another thrash album that could become part of thrash history if these guys from Huddersfield play their cards right and stick to what they do best, thrash metal!

It is true that some songs… or the entire albums lacks of any originality, I mean this guys are not trying to “refresh” or “re-invent” thrash, they are simply playing the music that inspire them, Bay Area style and they do that without sounding like total hacks (remember that new album from Trivium!); songs like “Burned Alive” provide those chorus that could make a stadium rumble, a perfect song for a live performance; and yes the guitar solos are there as well as the dirty blast from the drums.

Every song brings back memories, of different bands but never of specific albums or songs, Evil sort of condenses the essence of the sound created in the US and made famous by Metallica and gives it a new breath of air, and maybe is the age factor but that anger and fun headbanger attitude also finds its way into the melodies making the album fun to listen too… “We who are about to die… SALUTE YOU!” (Once you have listen to “We Who Are About to Die” you are going to understand the excitement for that particular line)
